Illinois
During our first social studies unit we will take a close look at our home state of Illinois. The students will explore the economic opportunities, natural and agricultural resources, and goods and services that draw people to the state. They will also take a close look at the geography that makes Illinois distinct from other states.
Essential Questions:
What draws people to Illinois? What keeps them here?
How has Illinois' economy changed over time?
How is Illinois' geography similar to and unique from other states?
Park / Orrington Partnership
We have a PTA-sponsored enrichment project this year!
As an extension of the district-wide Social Emotional Equity Learning (SEEL) curriculum, we are planning for 4th grade Orrington students to explore creative drama with students from Park School. Park is a public therapeutic day program in District 65 committed to serving a wide range of students with special needs, ages 3 through 21. This will be a memorable and meaningful experience with some of the focus being on forging new friendships, accepting differences and developing empathy.
